As a Writing Fellows Program Student Leader (WFSL), you work closely with the Writing Fellows Coordinator Edward Evins and the Writing Fellows Student Manager (WFSM)s to oversee day-to-day operations of the Writing Fellow Tutoring Program. Each WFSM serves as a point-of-contact for 3-7 courses per quarter.
✨ Principal Duties & Responsibilities
As a Student Leader, duties and responsibilities ebb and flow throughout each quarter and over the course of an academic year. We are committed to making sure your duties and responsibilities are realistic and manageable.
Serve as a point-of-contact for 3-7 courses per quarter, including
- Picking writing fellows cohorts from tutoring staff
- Creating and implementing writing fellows cohort materials and logistics across WCOnline, Slack, and Notion (and/or any new technology platforms the Writing Fellows Program adopts)
- Scheduling logistics related to each writing fellows cohort and each writing assignment
- Managing any schedule changes that impact assigned cohorts
- Meeting with each cohort throughout the quarter
- Soliciting feedback from cohorts about their course
Be an exemplary employee and leader of/model for other student employees
We count on Student Managers to be model employees and be a leader of and for other student employees on staff. This includes knowing and following our Policies and in general being invested in making our workplace as effective and collegial as possible. To be explicit, we do expect Student Managers to be highly invested in their work and to go above and beyond in solving problems that arise. We do not ask that Student Managers never make mistakes or face challenges at work, but rather to face challenges and own up to mistakes and work with their supervisor and team to learn from these experiences.
