πŸ“œ Position Summary

Because the Writing Center is a complex organization with over 70 staff members working across multiple locations (both on-site and remotely), we rely on accurate and effective internal and external resources to guide our work. The Resources & Copywriting Student Leader (RCSL) works to keep internal training and policy content up-to-date and helps our staff members access high-quality resources in their work with writers. In addition to these foci, the RCSL also helps oversee and conduct copyediting services we provide to members of the DePaul community (most frequently faculty, staff, and Ph.D. candidates) working on projects such as academic articles for publication, academic books, dissertations, and more.

✨ Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Manage and promote resources database
  • Maintain up-to-date resources content for tutors to help them do their job effectively
Assist director in managing website content
  • Inventory existing content and revise where needed
  • In collaboration with Project Manager SLProject Manager SLβ€”plan and oversee implementation of all proposed revisions and publishing of newly-revised website
Assist director in managing internal content, including The Handbook
  • Ensure , as the single source of truth for operations and policies in our office, is accurate, up-to-date, and comprehensive
  • Inventory existing content and revise where needed
  • Consider ways to make Handbook content more relevant to and useful for student employees, propose ideas, and implement approved ideas
  • Inventory any other mission-critical internal content and ensure anything relevant is up-to-date and accessible to staff
Copyedit advanced writing projects submitted to the Writing Center & supervise and mentor a group of copy editors
  • Select and train Writing Center Tutors interested in copyediting through facilitating workshops, reviewing style guides, editing sample writing, etc.
  • Check-in and provide ongoing feedback to copy editors
Manage copyediting projects
  • Coordinate and update copyeditors’ schedules in WCOnline
  • Conduct check-in meetings with editors to ensure projects are finished in a timely manner
  • Review copyedited document before project completion

  • MA student in Writing & Publishing preferred
  • Experience with copywriting and/or copyediting
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively manage others
