Before you can begin working at the Writing Center, you must work with the Writing Center’s Associate Director for Operations Management and the Office of Student Employment to complete all DePaul-mandated and federally mandated hiring forms and processes. You cannot legally work at the Writing Center until DePaul’s hiring offices have completed the hiring process.
After this process is complete, you will be entered into the University’s payroll system. DePaul pays its employees on Fridays on a biweekly schedule.

All undergraduate and graduate student Writing Center employees are paid hourly for any time that they work. You are responsible for entering these hours into your BlueSky timesheets and providing comments that detail your activities during that time.
You are also required to attend and enter hours for the following activities:
  • Autumn Quarter All-staff Orientation
  • Winter Retreat
  • Any assigned required professional development activities or workshops, including Tutor Talk
All other Writing Center-related activities that occur outside of your normally scheduled shift must be approved by an administrator.
Each Writing Center employee will work between 5 and 20 hours per week. DePaul student employees are limited to 25 hours per week across all of their campus positions, so keep that in mind when deciding how many hours you wish to work. International student employees are limited to 20 hours per work.
