Quarterly Scheduling Process & Policies

Prior to the beginning of each quarter, the Student Managers will solicit your availability and create your regular, consistent weekly schedule for the quarter, beginning week 2 and ending week 10 of Autumn, Winter, and Spring Quarters (with the exception of Graduate AssistantGraduate Assistants, as your stipend pays you to work week 1-week 10 of each quarter).

⌛ Quarterly Time Commitment

We understand that each Writing Center employee has varying obligations, and we also strongly believe that you should prioritize your responsibilities as a student.
So we can foster a positive, consistent experience for both writers and your fellow Writing Center employees, be realistic about your responsibilities outside the Writing Center—your classes, other jobs, etc.—when you complete your availability survey each quarter.
Given that you are a student employee and your class schedule is unique every quarter, so too is your Writing Center schedule.
For each quarter you work, you set the number of hours you work each week and the days and times you work that quarter, by completing the scheduling availability survey and by confirming and/or revising that in consultation with the Outreach Student Manager (ORSM)Outreach Student Manager (ORSM)s.
  • New Writing Center Tutors work between 5 -10 hours per week during their first quarter
  • Returning Writing Center Tutors work between 5-20 hours per week
