The Writing Center employs a smaller staff during DePaul’s Summer Session and December Intersession, given that enrollment in courses declines and there is less demand for appointments.
⚡ Priority Goes To:
The Writing Center uses Summer Session and December Intersession for program reflection, revision, and preparation. Thus, student employees in leadership positions are given priority in hiring:
- student managers
- student leaders and/or graduate assistants
Student employees in leadership roles are offered Summer and December positions first based on our budget and priorities.
🙋 Other Tutors
When budget and other considerations allow, tutors not in leadership roles may have the opportunity to work over the Summer and December Intersession as tutors, and by taking on special projects and leadership roles.
Administrators will announce any remaining available positions, after determining which student leaders will be working these periods, to all Writing Center staff. They will distribute instructions for applying prior to the start of the Summer Session or December Intersession.
