UCWbLing is a web blog created by writers for writers. Building on the mission and values of the Writing Center, UCWbLing provides a space for all writers to share resources, develop ideas, announce and promote events, reflect on written communication, and raise and debate topics about writing. Under the supervision of the Writing Center Director, the UCWbLing Student Leader manages UCWbLing by generating content and maintaining the website.

✨ Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Generate UCWbLing content (2-4 posts/week) (45%)
  • Solicit tutors to submit blog posts on a variety of topics
  • Copyedit submitted posts
  • Write for various UCWbLing sections, filling in content gaps
Maintain UCWbLing’s WordPress website (30%)
  • Publish content regularly, ensuring balance among categories and sections
  • Troubleshoot technical difficulties
  • Analyze blog’s traffic and strategize ways to promote readership
  • Propose and implement web design changes (optional)
Collaborate with the Outreach Community Partnerships Student Leader DRAFTOutreach Community Partnerships Student Leader DRAFT to implement a cohesive content strategy (20%)
  • Promote timely Writing Center events, contests, etc. via the blog
  • Coordinate blog posts based on a content calendar
Perform other duties as assigned by the Writing Center Director (5%)

  • MA in WRD, Professional/Digital Writing concentration preferred
  • Independent, organized, and detail-oriented

  • Interest in content strategy, writing for the web, and marketing
  • Experience with WordPress preferred
