The Handbook
This Handbook exists because we at the DePaul University Writing Center care deeply about being as transparent and clear as we can about the work we do and the expectations we have for you and each amazing, committed, and smart person who works here.
We hope the policies, practices, and procedures outlined in this handbook help you do your best work. Following these policies, practices, and procedures allow our offices run as smoothly and effectively as possible.
🧐 Technical Details
The Writing Center serves the DePaul community not only as peer writing tutors, but also as a resource for staff, a tool for community building, and a research hub for writing instruction best practices.
💻 Beyond Tutoring
🌐 The Writing Center Network
The Writing Center connects with writers and the peer writing tutor community through Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, UCWbLing (our blog), and our YouTube channel. We participate in the International Writing Centers Association (IWCA) and the National Conference on Peer Tutoring in Writing (NCPTW) in addition to regional and Chicago-area writing center communities and events. Writing Center staff members are encouraged to participate in these communities, events, and the broader field of writing center studies.
Writing Center staff members work with other departments and programs to support writing instruction and writing across the curriculum through DePaul’s Teaching Commons.
